Can You Really Drink Around the World at EPCOT by Yourself?

Watch the magic HERE!

A day at EPCOT is always a good time, and this day was no exception. We started off our day at our hotel with Voodoo Donuts from Universal. The vegan dirt cake, which is always a favorite for me, ended up being Micah’s favorite as well. And he’s not even vegan!

We started our park day strong with Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind. This is easily the best ride at Disney World in ANY park, and I knew Micah was going to love it. This was his first full day at EPCOT and his first time riding it. He had no spoilers and I honestly was probably more excited for him to experience the ride than he was at first.

I was slightly disappointed because they skipped the entire pre-show, which I feel like is a huge part of the experience. But don’t worry, we rode it 3 more times this week alone. Once we got to the front, I asked if we could be seated in row 9 (pro tip - just trust me and ask nicely.) and the cast member was super sweet and able to make that happen for us. Row 9 is the best row on the ride because (spoiler alert!) it is the row that is in the front when you get blasted backwards at the beginning of the ride.

If you don’t know, there are 6 songs on rotation on this ride, and each ride has a different song at random. The songs are "September" by Earth, Wind & Fire, "Disco Inferno" by The Trammps, "Everybody Wants to Rule the World" by Tears for Fears, "One Way or Another" by Blondie, "I Ran (So Far Away)" by A Flock of Seagulls, and "Conga" by Miami Sound Machine. We got “One Way or Another” which is my favorite song after “September” for this ride!

I was nervous because I was SO sure that this was going to be Micah’s favorite ride at Disney. But for the entire ride, he seemed frozen. So I honestly thought he hated it. But when we got off, he said he was just in awe trying to take everything in. His official review was, “When people drop down when they see Magic Kingdom castle for the first time is how you should feel when you’re on this ride. If you don’t want to throw your hands up and praise the Disney Gods and Walt himself, you’re not on the right ride. That is easily the best ride at Disney. No doubt about it. Hands down.” And honestly, I could not have said that better myself.

After Guardians, we went over to Living With the Land and grabbed a bite to eat at Sunshine Seasons. Then made our way over to Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure for our Lightning Lane. Micah also grabbed a Remy shoulder buddy who became his best friend for the rest of the trip. Then, because it’s Disney Law to start your World Showcase in Mexico, we started from the beginning at World Showcase when I told Micah what drinking around the world was.

Of course, he needed to complete the challenge. However, I said I wasn’t drinking so this was all gonna be on him. He started with a Blood Orange Margarita in Mexico which he really liked. He then got a Strawberry Cream Ale from Norway and a spiked iced tea in China, neither of which he was too fond of. It was a littleeeeeee bit of a struggle for him to finish them and ended up chugging them at the end. He bought a sword in House of Good Fortune, which he said he had no recollection of the day after. If that tells you anything about how strong the drinks at EPCOT are.

Before moving on, I decided to get a mystery pin pack set of 5. I grabbed the character mugs and pulled Powerline, Mr. Toad, Copper, Tod, and the Cheshire Cat. I gave Micah Powerline and I kept Cheshire Cat but the rest ended up being traders for me. I’ve never been a pin trader before, but this made me want to start! Micah even started pin trading on this trip too!

He grabbed a wine from Germany which made him want to get wine from every country moving forward since it was a lot smoother. But this was only drink #4 and he already said he was starting to lose count. Mind you, there wasn’t really much time in between drinks. And it was also 95 degrees, in his defense.

Then Italy! He had a Limoncello Spritzer which had my mouth watering a little bit. It looked delicious. He grabbed a beer in American Adventure and then I tried to get him to have the Violet Sake in Japan but he was sticking to wine. And this was where he started spilling some of his drinks.

I helped him out a little bit in Morocco. He ordered a Mimosa and being that prosecco is my favorite drink, I had to try it. He had been complaining about me not helping him anyway (and was very much spilling his drinks now), so he had a sip and then I drank all of it but the last sip for him. This was also the point where he started asking for his drinks to have less alcohol so I figured it wouldn’t be very strong anyway.

In France, he got another wine which he spilled so much that it stained his shirt. I filmed him with each drink in every country for our video and he forgot what country we were in at this point. His 9th drink! The family in front of us in line was also drinking around the world and they asked me if Micah was celebrating his 21st birthday. They had the same amount of drinks that Micah had but seemed fine, so maybe they were all splitting drinks.

He also grabbed an Old Speckled Hen at the Rose & Crown Pub in the United Kingdom. This one he had maybe 3 sips of before throwing it away.

By the time we got to Canada, it started raining and everything was shutting down. But after 10 drinks, I knew he needed some food and water so we went to Japan for some quick service. After finishing his meal, he fell asleep at the table for 30 minutes before I woke him up and asked if he wanted to go back to the hotel room to which he immediately agreed.

As soon as we got back to the room, he slept for 4 hours. I woke him up for dinner and we watched The Haunted Mansion (5 stars every time). The next day he didn’t remember much from what I told him or that he bought a sword. So if you’re new to drinking around the world or you’re a bit of a lightweight, I definitely recommend bringing a drinking buddy (or two).

Come see how our entire day played out and all of the drinks he tried here!
